Admittedly, we all enjoy a thrill. One of the best ways to get that thrill is from scary movies & scary books. Stories have been told by the fireside for centuries; many have been meant to scare. Whether it's to frighten a young child so they mind their parents or for the simple thrill of it. Even many of our fairy tales started out with quite dark story lines. The original versions of the tales collected by the Brothers Grimm are quite bloody. In the 19th century it was traditional to tell ghost stories on Christmas eve by the fire, which is probably one the Charles Dickens' inspirations for "A Christmas Story." You may like to be frightened all year long, or perhaps might renew the old tradition of ghost stories on Christmas eve, but whichever your pleasure, I think we can all agree that Fall is the most inspirational season to be frightened. Here is a list of horror and ghost stories to start your seasonal thrill reading.
