Klas Bergman


Klas Bergman is a Swedish-American journalist and author. Born and raised in Stockholm, he is a graduate of Stanford University and has lived and worked in the United States for almost four decades. A veteran journalist and foreign correspondent, he has reported for both Swedish and American news organizations from the United States, Western and Eastern Europe, and the Middle East.

Bergman is the author of four books, published in both English and Swedish. His latest book, Scandinavians in the State House: How Nordic Immigrants Shaped Minnesota Politics, came out in 2017, published by Minnesota Historical Society Press. That followed Land of Dreams: A Reporter’s Journey from Sweden to America, which was first published in Sweden under the title Amerika – drömmarnas land.  Bergman’s first book, Tredje bordet från höger, came out in Sweden in the early 1980s after his years as a foreign correspondent in Eastern Europe with Belgrade, in former Yugoslavia, as a base.

Klas Bergman and his wife Marga have lived in Great Barrington, Massachusetts since December 2018.
