Kevin O'Hara will be at The Bookloft on February 5th, 2010 at 7:00 PM, reading from and signing his new memoir, A Lucky Irish Lad.

Our local psychiatric nurse returns with another first-rate memoir! In The Last of the Donkey Pilgrims we were brought along for the ride as Kevin O'Hara returned to his Irish roots and circumnavigated Ireland with a donkey and a cart. He introduced us to many a character and their unique wit, humor, and wisdom; and soulfully showed us the intersection of his past with his future.

Now, in A Lucky Irish Lad, O'Hara delves into what it was to grow up in Massachusetts in the 1950's and 1960's as part of an Irish family that immigrated to the United States for the sake of their children. The lessons he learned - making do with what you have, making things last - and the blessings of good health and familial love thoroughly grounded him as he ascended into adulthood. This book is not only about growing up Irish, but also growing up American on the hopeful tail of WWII and the shadowed eve of the Vietnam War.
